Sound Recording

Recording and editing interviews.

In a group, we took it in turns to use recording equipment to record an interview, be the interviewer and be the person being interviewed. We then chose the recording of ourselves and edited it to sound better.

The sound recorder we used was a Zoom H4N. It was quite easy to use. First we had to open the SD card slot and put a new SD card or one with enough storage into the recorder. We then turned it on with the button on the side and waited for it to load. Once it had loaded, we checked the battery before we started recording. The battery was high enough so we pressed the record button twice to start recording. Whilst it was recording, the interviewer asked questions whilst the recorder was pointed towards the interviewees mouth. Once the interviewee answered all the questions, we stopped the recording with the stop button next to the record button.

The yellow line here shows the slight fade out i did to make the end seem more subtle as opposed to abrupt.

This is my interview that I edited. I cut out the interviewer as they were very quiet. I spaced out the sounds to sound like it was all in one take.

Me, Joanna, Natasha, Heather and Caitlin went on a tour around the college to record our voices in different rooms. I recorded mine in the elevator, to demonstrate the reverb. Below is a button linking my voice clip inside the lift. I edited it the same way as the sound project above.
